Sally Stewart began her singing career in first grade – singing and playing the piano to such hits as “My Country ‘Tis Of Thee” and the birthday song. Her repertoire then expanded to anything and everything she could get her hands on – ranging from Top-40 hits to musicals, and even to classical pieces. Classical music is what got her out to L.A., in the form of a vocal scholarship to U.S.C. (first soprano). After studying classical music 24 hours-a-day for a year, she couldn’t wait any longer to get out into the ‘real world’ jungle, so she spent one more semester at the Dick Grove School Of Music (also in Los Angeles). Here she learned how to do practical things like writing out a decent chart and showing up prepared and on time for the gig!
After lying her way into her first gig, she has been singing and performing onstage full time ever since. Besides live gigs she has also recorded a few movie soundtracks, commercial jingles, sung all of the lead vocals in the film, “Dance To Win” (MGM/UA), and has most recently arranged all of the back-up vocals and sang on a duet (“To Love Somebody”) for the newly released CD, “The Return Of Johnny Bravo” by Barry Williams (“Greg Brady” from The Brady Bunch).
She is a firm believer in the benefits of experience and happily admits that singing ‘cover-hits’ every night has made her into what she is today – a phenomenal singer and performer. Sally currently resides in Las Vegas where the casinos have much more income to offer than the starving club situation in L.A. She writes her own music although she would be more than happy to sing someone else’s hit song if it were right for her. Check this woman out – a powerhouse singer with an unforgettable stage presence!
